Business situation

The mixed reality tele-training project with HoloLens developed for CIFP Los Gladiolos arises as a result of the radical transformation that the biomedical field has experienced in recent years, mainly due to the introduction of new technologies. Many of the systems and devices used in the daily operations of the health and hospital field have meant an advance in medicine in general, but have generated the need for continuous training among professionals in the sector.

This training disconnection between hospitals and educational centers in which students cannot access these environments due to their high cost, accessibility or danger, is a problem that occurs daily, and has required a solution that allows them to approach such training as if they were physically present for their professional development.

SOLUTION PROVIDED

With the aim of facilitating the approach and connection of the students of CIFP Los Gladiolos to the different healthcare environments in real time was possible thanks to the introduction and use of mixed reality tools with Microsoft HoloLens.

In this way, we would allow teachers to stream their training sessions in biomedical environments, and explain to students how to use the different biosanitary equipment remotely through the Microsoft Teams video call service. In addition, this technology would allow both to use holograms during the training to refer to various elements or even allow several people to join the same call.

Enlaza Project

The mixed reality e-learning project with HoloLens is part of the Enlaza Project initiative developed within the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands with the aim of validating a new training model for vocational training students in the archipelago that links workspaces with educational spaces.

Intelequia has been tutoring the whole project since it was born. Thanks to this program it has been possible to develop various training courses such as in the Institute of Tropical Diseases of the Canary Islands, in the Microbiology Laboratory of the Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria and even export the remote training with mixed reality for other centers that include 3D modeling subjects applying HoloLens training.
